There were so many amazing covers this year! There are bound to be repeats from yesterday's topic, but it just can't be helped. The cover if very often the first thing that piques my interest about a book. I'm extremely visual, so if the cover is only so-so - and I've heard little to nothing about the book in the first place - there's a high chance I won't read it. That might be awful, but it's just how it is. So, in no particular order, here are my 2012 favorite book covers:
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Really, this cover is absolutely perfect. The colors are perfect. The font rocks and the red glass slipper is to die for. Can't get enough of this cover!
The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. SmithI don't know what it is about this cover, but I love it. Maybe it's the couple, frozen in time whilst the rest of the world moves on. Maybe, again, it's the awesome fonts. It's just fantastic and I can't get enough of it.
I Hunt Killers by Barry LygaThis cover is awesome! It really gives you an eerie feeling, which is perfect for the book. AND if you take of the dustjacket, the creepfactor triples. Don't believe me? Check out the image at the very end of my review. Scary!
Scarlet by A. C. GaughenI simply MUST read this! The cover is the first thing that grabbed me... it's so striking! Scarlet definitely looks like she is someone you shouldn't mess with. And just look at her eyes! I also adore the leaves in the background. Gah! Like I said, I have to read this. Soon!
Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn AndersonAt first glance, this looks like a flower. Then you look a little closer and realize it's a figure in a dress of gorgeous colors. Add in the simple, yet awesome, font and... voila! Instant awesome book cover!
The Raven Boys by Maggie StiefvaterIn all honesty, I think I'm just one of those people destined to instantly like anything Maggie does. This novel is SO GOOD and the cover is definitely striking. You should see it in person because it kind of... shimmers? It has a pearly look to it and the image of the raven - plus the colors and design - just really nails it. Insta-love.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh BardugoHow can you not like this cover? It simply jumps out at you! The colors, the images, the font, the entire design is fantastic. This has long been a book I've been eager to get my hands on.
A Million Suns by Beth RevisI know there are new (less spoilery, I suppose) covers for this series now, but I still can't get enough of this. It's SO PERFECT for the book.
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
This is another one of those I-don't-know-what-it-is-about-this-cover-but-I-love-it type things. I don't know. This is another one that when you see it in person, you're instantly drawn to it. Heck, I'm instantly drawn to it when I see it online, too! It's just so eye-catching.
What's Left of Me by Kat Zhang
This cover really freaks my eyes out. It kind of freaks my brain out, too. Again, I have yet to read this one, but the cover is definitely pulling me in! I love this freakin' cover!
