Hello happy readers! I thought it was about time I let you guys in on a few current and future happenings... hence a news post! Yay!
Things have been changing in this life of mine and I thought I'd share one of the changes with you! I work for an amazing used book and entertainment store. I was hired nearly a year ago (March 2nd! I can't believe it!) to work in the book department, which was a perfect place for me. I have thoroughly enjoyed being in Books this past year and getting to know all my wonderful coworkers. Well, a couple weeks ago I was asked if I wanted to take over the kids/teen department! Being an avid reader and huge fan of all things MG and YA, you can bet I was practically hyperventilating with happiness. Or rather, I would have been if I wasn't all drugged up on cough medicine and barely coherent. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is... I AM the Kids Department, guys! It's all mine! I get to see and touch every single kids/teen book that comes in through our trade counter. I get to shelve and price and organize and plan and basically have fun in kiddie land five days a week, eight hours a day. I am so incredibly excited to have this opportunity to work with the books I know and love best! I must admit, I was a little nervous at first - again, once I finally registered what was going on... silly cough medicine - but I'm really loving it so far. Right now I am basically just getting used to my new area, but I'm also keeping my eyes out for things that might need a little Litza tweak added to them. I have a couple things I'd like to do, but I need to get approval from my supervisor first. I want to also take this getting-to-know-my-new-department time to see what's working for me now and what isn't. Do I always go to a certain spot to look for something, only to remember it's somewhere else? Is my current method of processing and sorting the books the most efficient way for me to being doing it? Should I set myself a loose weekly schedule to follow, or just go with the flow? All these things and more are running through my head at this point. I'm also going to be helping out a little with a new book club we're starting at the store. It's a Young Adult book club for readers 18 and older. I'm so excited to see if this takes off! We're trying to think of names for it, so if you have any ideas, feel free to let me know! But yeah, I just wanted to share my good news with you all! I just know I'm going to have heaps of fun with this new position.
In other news, I have a few exciting things coming up here on She Dreams in Fiction. I should have my review policy up and running fairly soon. I don't know why it's taken me so long, but I'm really excited that it's nearly done. Actually, it's probably taken me so long to post it because I tend to be long-winded. Ahem. Moving on!
I've been working on a freakin' awesome giveaway package for a few months now and I think it's nearly complete. I'm not going to tell you what it is, but I can say that it makes me incredibly excited. I love it so much, I've been tempted to make one for myself! I can also tell you that it's all centered around one of my favorite young adult books. This book is full of swoon-worthy moments, delectable foods and gorgeous scenery... not to mention heaps of laughs and one of my favorite book boyfriends ever. Ooh, this is so much fun! I can't wait for you guys to see it! So yes, keep your eyes out for this giveaway. Sadly, due to shipping costs, the prize package is going to be US only... but I might just have a little something for International followers as well, so don't despair just yet!
I am trying out some new things. I've signed up for my first book blast, accepted my first review request and I'm hoping I'll be accepted to participate in my first blog tour! As with the new position at work, I'm nervous about trying my hand at these events. I don't know why, though. I know I'm a bit slower with my book blogging progress compared to some, but this pace has suited me thus far. I think it's time to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself, though! I hope I can get all this figured out soon.
Anyway, if you've stayed through this entire message, THANK YOU! Like I said earlier, I can be a smidge long-winded. Again, thank you for being such amazing blog followers. If you have any suggestions or helpful tips, let me know!
As always, happy reading!
