A Friendly Little Game (There Are Prizes!)

Pop Quiz! Do any of you remember when I did the monthly wrap-up for June and I hinted at something cool and awesome I was organizing for the month of July? Internet-style cookies if you do remember. If  you're cool enough to remember back that far, then you might have also noticed that it is not, in fact, July anymore. I had a lot going on in July, what with birthdays and weddings and traveling across the state and whatnot. And since Melissa had her birthday giveaway going on the entire month of July, I decided it could wait. You guys don't mind right?

Anyways, here's the jib. We've decided to do a Monthly Blog Wrap-Up Thingy each month, only, as you can see, we don't have a very good name for it. And we're a little stuck with coming up with one that isn't kind of lame or already taken. So then I had an idea! You guys are probably more clever than us by a long shot, so why not let you guys have a chance at naming it! I'm even going to be so nice as to offer a prize for the person who comes up with the bestest name!

What do you think? Sounds like fun right? RIGHT? *crickets chirping* Oh come on.

Look, this is how it's going to go down. There's this little form down at the bottom of this page. You guys fill it out for us, and Litza and I will reign down judgement upon you. You can enter as many times as you like, just be sure you keep putting in your name and email, so we can contact you if it turns out your entry is the best!

What's in it for you? Well, besides getting to see your handiwork each month, I have this list of things to send you!

First, books! Because I"m going to assume anyone who reads this blog loves books! The first book I'm going to include is a classic from a classic author. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson has been a favorite story of mine since I was young (though I actually haven't read the book... but I have seen the Wishbone! Anyone?)

I also picked this book up whilst I was browsing at Barnes & Noble. The Wild Queen by Carolyn Meyer. I haven't read it (yet), but it sounded really interesting to me. It's historical-fiction-based-on-fact, and who doesn't love that? Well, a lot of people probably, but I do, so here it is! It's probably also worth mentioning that it's the 7th in a series about royal women in history, but they are all about different people from different times, so I'm pretty sure it's safe to read on it's own.

This last book is a favorite of Melissa's and mine. 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson is cute, well-written, funny, and a little bit sad. It's a great book that I'd recommend to everyone!

Next up we have a few things just because I feel like it. I picked up this Harry Potter shirt out of the clearance bin. I probably shouldn'a ha' told you tha'... (are my references too obscure?) It is a size medium, and no, I can't exchange it for a larger/smaller size. It is what it is, and I think it's kind of cool-lookin'. But it was in the clearance bin, so what does that say about it?

Next is this cool mustache bookmark! I don't know what the thing about mustaches is lately, but it seems that everyone loves them. I kind of dig them too, but only on paper. My husband went for Halloween as a 70's Homicide Cop Under Investigation By Internal Affairs once, and let me tell you, the mustache was both ridiculous and something I never wish to see again.

And last but of course not least, this absolutely adorable whale journal! Because everyone needs a place to rant/rave about all the books they've been reading! And it's cute. Who doesn't need a cute journal to tote around with them? I was tempted to keep it for myself.

So! All this and more can be yours if the price is right! Well, not really. I think it's a pretty cool prize though.

As an itsy bitsy side note, since all this will be somewhat on the heavier side, this contest is only open to United States residents. If you live in a different country and have something mega wicked awesome to contribute, I don't have any problems sending the prize to any US friend you might have tucked away, so go ahead and enter anyway (just know that you can't physically have the prize. It makes my heart sad, but shipping is outrageous!)

Also, this contest will be open from when this post goes up on Aug 10th to whenever I take the form down on Aug 31st (which will probably be around 10pm PST). That's three whole weeks to wrack your brains for something cool!

That said, this is just a fun contest for fun's sake, so while we're definitely going to seriously consider all your suggestions, don't take it too seriously okay? Great!

Lastly, let us know what you think about this contest in the comments section! Perhaps if a lot of people dig this kind of contest dealio, we'll make an effort to do more of them in the future! (No, they wouldn't all be about naming things on our blog. That would be silly)

Ready, set, GO!
