The topic this week is Top Ten Books I Wish Had Sequels. Okay, to be honest, I don't read a lot of standalone novels. I don't know why, but I think it says more about the book industry than it does about me... I'm just saying. Most of these picks, I am perfectly happy with how they ended, I just wouldn't mind having more. Some characters/stories I just don't want to let go of!
Here are the books that, should they ever get a sequel, I totally wouldn't mind:
1. I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith - I want to know what happened to Cassandra, I don't want to have to imagine with this one... not really. I want to know what she chose! I want to know... well, I can't give anything away, so I can't say more. But still! I WANT MORE! (Check out my review!)
2. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen - So I totally know this one will never ever happen, but I wouldn't mind if they found a random sequel whilst going through some old Jane Austen archives or whatever. I'm just sayin'...
3. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith - I loved spending 24 hours with these two characters. I would love to see more of their story, too. (Check out my review!)

5. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater - This is one that I liked how it ended, but should Maggie ever feel like revisiting the story, I most definitely wouldn't object. Again, I'm just sayin'. Ahem. (Check out my review!)
8. The Host by Stephenie Meyer - Really? Hasn't she promised us a sequel for AGES? I want more! I don't even care if it's a companion novel! Though I totally think she could make it a trilogy. You know, there would be The Host, then a companion novel with that other group and then the third book could be both groups together taking down the aliens! YEAH! This should be a thing.
9. The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram - Yeah yeah, I loved how it ended... but still! More! It was so dang cute, I loved it to bits. I loved this story so much and I just want more!
10. This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales - So I just finished this yesterday and... I already want more! I want more of Elise and Vicky and Mel and Alex and Harry and everyone, even Pippa and Char. I want more Start! More music! More... everything! Am I demanding? Um... maybe yes, in this case... but I don't care. MORE PLEASE!
So which books do you wish had sequels? What about characters or stories you wouldn't mind revisiting? Are there any books you feel just didn't end properly and you'd like to see more? Let me know in the comments below!

I so agree with the Host, it first book was published ages ago! Where is your sequel? :D I really need to read This Song Will Save Your Life as well as all Stephanie Perkins's books, everybody seems to love them. :)
ReplyDeleteScorpio Races - need more Sean Kendrick! Hope Maggie Stiefvater is paying attention! :)

ReplyDeleteI love your list :D I've also got The Book Thief in my list.
I really should get a move on with reading The Scorpio Races, Stephanie Perkins' and Jennifer E Smith's books! They are all such popular choices in this week's Top Ten Tuesday.

Great list! I'd love sequels of The Host, Anna and The Book Thief!

I Capture the Castle is first on my list as well.
ReplyDeleteI considered putting The Host on, but judging by Twilight I'm not sure Stephanie Meyer could continue with the quality displayed in The Host!
And The Scorpio Races is sitting on my bookshelf to read. I'm really looking forward to it, and I kind of love that she's written a standalone. I may change my mind when I read it - I keep hearing people raving about Sean...
Here's my TTT.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Book Thief at the moment and it's so good that I don't doubt that I'll want to read more :) I just realyl like the way it's narrated.
Oh, and I wouldn't mind more Anna and Etienne ;)
Great list!
