Top Ten Tuesday (26): Books I Would Love to See as a Movie/TV Show

The topic this week is Books I Would Love To See As A Movie/TV Show (set in a perfect world in which movies don't butcher the books we love). So I was totally going to make movie poster mockups for this weeks topic, but that didn't happen. After forgetting to post a Top Ten Tuesday for last week, I thought it best to get it done before I forgot again. Hence the less than awesome (at least I hope it would have looked awesome had I made them) poster-less post. Anyway... there are so many books I see play out as movies in my head whilst reading! I've even recently thought of seeing if going into film would be something I'd enjoy... being so visual and all. Wouldn't that be awesome?! There are books missing from this list, but that's only because they've already been made (some good, some horrible) or they're coming soon! I mean seriously, have you SEEN the trailer for The Book Thief yet?! It looks AMAZING!!!

So, in this perfect world where the screen versions are actually good adaptations, here are ten I'd like to see:
(click on the cover images to purchase the books!)

1. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater - I'm so not even kidding here. Even typing this out right now, I can totally picture this book being perfect for film. If I were to do this one, it would be so... eerie and beautiful and mysterious. I can see the island of Thisby as if it were right in front of me. Gah! This needs to be a movie already! Or any of her books, for that matter. BUT only if they make it a faithful adaptation.

2. A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray - I just read this book for the first time last month and I simply loved the atmosphere of it. I can't decide if it would make a better movie or TV show, but it definitely needs to be made for the screen. It would be gorgeous!

3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins - This one is purely for selfish reasons. I want to see this made into a film. I think it would be fun and beautiful and I want to see it all. The city, the characters, the theatres, the... everything. It would be amazing!

4. The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly - This movie would probably scare the bajeepers out of me, but it would be SO AWESOME! I imagine it being really dark and kind of like, I don't know, Pan's Labyrinth or Donnie Darko-ish. Though I've never seen Pan's Labyrinth or Donnie Darko (I'm a baby, remember?), I visualize it creepy like that. Can you imagine it, though? The strange creatures and dark setting and all-over twisted fairytale-ness of it all? It would be fantastic.

5. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith - This could be made into a movie so easily! I mean, it takes place in a twenty-four hour period. They wouldn't even have to cut anything, really. So swoony...

6. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor - Oh my word, this series has "movie material" written all over it! It could even make a super amazing TV show, it's that translatable! Limitless possibilities.

7. Shade trilogy by Jeri Smith-Ready - This would make an amazing movie. The world is so freakishly amazing and interesting, I wouldn't be able to resist it! So much to see and experience and, just, love! I WANTS!

8. The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede - The second I started reading this, I saw everything playing out like a movie. It just screamed film-worthy to me! It would be SO MUCH FUN to watch this. Expect heaps of laughter, adventure and hijinks. Seriously, it has everything. Dragons, wizards, witches, princesses who refuse to do as their told... a perfect movie recipe.

9. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer - How has this NOT been made into a movie?! You know, I think it would make a fun animated film! Like How to Train Your Dragon, but with evil kid geniuses and faeries instead of dragons and vikings. Lots of humor and adventure and magic and mayhem. A perfect family flick!

10. Chasing the Dark by Sam Hepburn - I think this one would translate to film rather well. It would totally be a teen action flick, complete with mobsters, creepy old houses, awful relatives and a loyal pet. It would rock!

An honorable mention goes to Mister Max: The Book of Lost Things by Cynthia Voigt. It's an honorable mention simply because I haven't finished it yet - so I don't know how it ends - but it's so good so far! It would make a great show OR movie. Super fun and family friendly.

Are there any books you'd absolutely love to see made into a movie? Would you see any of the movies I mentioned above, were they ever to be made? Share your thoughts/links below!
