Top Ten Tuesday (39): Books I Wanted to Read But Didn't

Technically the topic for this week is Top Ten Books I read in 2013, but since I already did this topic during the week-long top ten thingie, I decided to do a different one. So, thanks to the great idea from my sister, my topic is: Top Ten Books I Wanted to Read But Didn't. I have many, many, many books that I was hoping to read this year, but for one reason or another, I never got around to them. I don't know why. Maybe I was in a reading funk at the time. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood to read that particular kind of book. Mayhaps it was just because I'm a slower reader, with an ever-changing schedule, and didn't have time to get to it. Regardless of the reason, there are far too many books I thought for sure I would read this year (many of which I have on my shelves). Here's to hoping I'll be able to get to them in 2014!

So without further ado, here are ten books I own and most wanted to read, but didn't for some reason:

1. Shades of Earth by Beth Revis - I've had this on my radar for so long, but I keep putting it off. To be completely honest, I think it has more to do with me not wanting to let go, than anything else. I'll read it... just not yet.

2. Prodigy by Marie Lu - I have no idea why I haven't read this yet. No good reason, really...

3. The Trouble with Flirting by Claire LaZebnik - I picked this up once... then remembered I had a review book I needed to read first. Dang.

4. Wonder by R. J. Palacio - I was so excited when I got this, but then I never read it. I seem to do that a lot. It still looks amazing!

5. The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater - HOW HAVE I NOT READ THIS YET?!?! I consider this an epic fail. Some Maggie Stiefvater super-fan I turned out to be...

6. The House of Hades by Rick Riordan - Again, HOW DID I NOT READ THIS?! Two of my top favorite authors released books this year, but I failed to read them. Gah! I hang my head in shame.

7. Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood - I said this would be the year I'd finally read Born Wicked... guess I lied. Dagflabbit!

8. Forest Born by Shannon Hale - I also can't believe I haven't read this one yet! I even went and bought the special cover to match the rest of my set! GAH! So much fail.

9. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare - I have no reason why I haven't read this. I even went to the launch event and got it signed! Le sigh.

10. Loki's Wolves by M. A. Marr and K. L. Armstrong - Ya'll know how I love middle-grade novels. You also know by now that I love books with mythology. So why have I not read this book yet? I have no clue.

So... do you have any books you wanted to read, but didn't get the chance to? How about any favorite reads from 2013?! I can't wait to hear them all!

  1. You must read House of Hades!!! I promise that you will not be disappointed.

  2. I've not read any of the books on here either - except for Prodigy, which is worth a read! I hope you can get to some of these soon! Happy New Year :) My TTT.
